I'm doing some mods on a Boss SD-1 and have run into a little problem. I used desoldering braid to take off a cap, and when I went to replace it, there is not longer an eyelet to solder to. I can't get any to stick to the board. Please tell me I haven't fried the board and that this can be fixed.

You just tore off the pad. You can fix this. Follow the trace to see what component it goes to next, then use a small piece of wire to make the connection between the cap and that component.

Thanks so much, I was stressing out. Do I just take the wire and connect it from the wire of the cap to the next solder joint? I hate to sound so ignorant, but hey, that's just my style.

Yep... wire it to whatever solder joint is next on the trace. You're just replacing that section of the trace with a point-to-point wire.

If you're really slick, you can use the leg of the cap. Put it through the hole (where the pad used to be), then bend the leg over so that it reaches to the next component. Before you solder it down, strip some insulation off some wire and slide it over the leg of the cap (this will keep it from shorting to anything else), then solder it in place.

Finished it earlier. I was working on a Boss SD-1, doing a mod by Monte Allums. This thing sounds amazing. That one problem aside, it was a really easy mod. I'll be modding a DD-3 tomorrow.
