I know this has been answered before but it is usually sort of in another post here and there that has nothing to do with the orignal post for when you search etc... so I thought I would ask since I'm fairly ignorant on this stuff....among other things 8)

When posting a vid from the Utube, why do some of you embed it into the thread vs me having to link into Utube? Any particular advantage or ease of doing one way vs the other?

Then, how do you simply embed it into a thread? What is the process exactly if someone would be so kind. I remember Nagoda explaining some of this in the past but I'll be darned if I could find it using search. I know there is something about you have to leave out something in the address but I don't know what that is.

I'm more prone to watch a clip if it's embedded because it keeps me in the thread (as opposed to sending me over to YouTube), but maybe I'm weird.

To embed, copy all the junk after the = on the youtube link and paste in the middle of what turns up after you click the "youtube" button, like you do with an image or URL.

For example, here's the full link for my Shoot the Moon demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kc8rYCsyV6s

I'd copy and paste "Kc8rYCsyV6s" to give us:

Thanks my friend. Of course Youtube is blocked here so I'm planning on doing my posting from home.

I may have mentioned this before but they block Youtube and photobucket but don't block Imageshack and Flickr. Don't get the logic on that but I guess they could block it all so it could be worse.

I always think about it like quoting someone's text....

[ youtube ] post "=" stuff here [ /youtube ] (without spaces)

Not all forums have a YT button and being the weird, anti-cruise-control type, I just like doing it myself
