i know everyone sells mpsa 18s and i can easily get them. but i have a gcb-95 crybaby and broke an mpsa 18 when i lifted it up to read the labeling. its gay they were laid face down. anyway i have 2n3904s 2n5088s 2n5089s and mpsa 13s are any of those equivalent until i can have an order more than one transistor. (a .50 cent part is not worth the 3 dollars in shipping! ohh also while im writhing i have a rev e origional gcb-95 crybaby with a small 9v adaptor and its pc mounted but not like the new pc mount adaptors this one is 3 in line does anyone know how to converrt to the new mountables even if i have to wire it in not solder it on. but the first question is most important. thanks guys

I think the 2n5088 would be similar. Stick a socket on the pcb and try them all...I'm not sure you can do any damage there.

agreed, just pick the one with the highest gain. not 100% sure the mpsa13 will work, as it's a darlington. but maybe :?:

i soldered in a 2n5088 and have some weird hang up when rock back to heel for about a second as if the treble is still riding or lingering. its cool sounding but not consistent. im gonna solder in the other 2n5088 and see what happens then do the bypass mod and circuit mods with the trimmers. but thanks for the assurance on the 2n5088s. it saved me having to pay 3 dollars in shipping for a .50 cent part. but all in all it works.
