I am looking for and ABY box for my ac30 so i can mix and switch between channels. I understand that a passive ABY box wont prevent you from getting shocked, hum/noise problems, and messing your amps. Therefore instead of buying a cheaper passive ABY box im opting for the byoc amp selector in case I buy another amp in the future.

my questions is; will the active circuitry of the amp selector noticeably affect my tone?

If it will noticeably affect my guitar's tone then i rather buy a true bypass passive ABY box. Since I will be plugging into the same amp, and both channels are in phase, I wouldn't need the transformer isolated feature.

Any suggestions are welcomed!! I'm in a hurry to buy either option! please help! :(

I built the BYOC amp selector and it sounds pretty transparent to me. I'm not one to nit pick about things like that though but I doubt you'll be disapointed.

thank you for the fast reply! I shall order the amp selector today.

Also I believe theres a mod for a phase inverter, but I'm not sure. I found a post on the mod but I'm a noob and the instructions were too technical for me.
If anyone could help with more guidance it would be great.

I could swear there was another post, maybe 2 months ago, that asked the exact same thing you did and there was a lot of chatter...or some, more than the one you linked. In fact I'm positive on the post I'm thinking about.

Hey Grindcustoms, do you remember that past about an ABY splitter thingamajig?

TNblueshawk, I think maybe the post your referring to is for the A/B looper and not the amp selector??? :?:

Hmmm, that is possible I guess. Yeah, the more I think about. I just remember some good convo in there.

No change in tone whatsoever using the amp selector in my rig. It's a great pedal: I particularly like the stereo effect I get when I put my chorus AFTER the switcher on one of the amps...really spreads things out nicely :)

mmarsh what kind of differences do you get by placing the effects before or after the amp selector? and i was wondering, did you just say you put your stereo chorus after the amp selector??? wouldn't you want it before the pedal going into the a and b inputs?

The chorus is not stereo :) it only goes to one of the amps. It's an old trick to get a stereo spread. No worries putting pedals in front or behind this guy.
