Blake and mammoth are great people, but what would warrant me taking the Gold ones over others?

Everything in gold is better: Jewelry, Les Pauls, coins, strippers.

Haha I honestly don't know the advantage. Better conductivity... but for us I don't know how much better it will make it

Also, new at Mammoth is a cast aluminum enclosure, nearly 10" long. This is exactly what I was hunting around for about a month ago if you remember, and never did find. Well, now I found it. :)

As for the stomp, I think one of these would be very SWAG attached to a gold chain and worn about town.. 8)

I would think the footswitch button being Gold would make more sense than the Lugs.

Seriously, though, someone school me on the benefits. I've seen Jacks and stuff "boast" the same "gold standard".

lugs being gold would lead me to believe the contacts are also gold. gold doesn't corrode, so you shouldn't get buildup on the contacts. you should be able to get longer life from these. it may be a good upsell for us coastal people with salt air issues.

Gold is a better conductor, however these would only have a very thin gold plating same as gold quarter inch connectors. It's just an excuse to charge more under false pretenses.

 This is awesome. I've got a plastic one on my bench with a failed circuit in it right now. I just haven't gotten around to troubleshooting. I was going to toss the footswitch (long story I'll explain one day) and now I know of my replacement ! Thanks G!

(Grabbing this excerpt from some of our facebook comments)

Our engineers have been testing them out and freaking out about how much better the solder flows.
We've reached a few conclusions:
1. Solder flows better over Gold plated lugs
2. The Gold helps prevent against corrosion/oxidation
3. They Look pretty.
also,
4. They cost a LOT more from the manufacturer, so we actually profit less than we do by selling our normal nickel plated switches.

These are meant to be a specialized switch, not a new groundbreaking staple item found in everyone's production line. Newbies might like how the solder flows really easily, others might just like the buzzword selling point of : "...And, the stomp switch I used has GOLD TERMINALS!!". And then others might just like the greenish color of the housing.

I think I've been there! When I went to college in Albany, NY, we made plenty of runs over the US/Canada border for beer/strippers/French-Canadian girls and music. Good times.

Viable answer, Blake. Just the solder flow improvement could help some noobs.
