Hey dudes. Two nights ago I had an issue with the footswitch and the lugs not taking solder. It would bead up either on the iron or run up the extra lenght on the wire until I snipped it off. Was thinking it was just part of my crappy building night I was having. One other member is having the same issue.

Anyone else run into this? I have heretofore never had to either wipe off those lugs and or sand them, like I have on the I/O jacks at times. There appears to be some kind of film left on there.....I guess. Dunno.

Thoughts on how to solve?

i used a brass brush to scrub the hell out of the two lugs for the jumper i missed last night. now, it was only two lugs, but i think it did help. when i was wiring up last night i had a bitch of a time getting the joints to take solder. same thing as you, it would bead on the lug and stick only because of the rosin. the solder would build on the iron or all down the wire. i'm gonna go box a few more up and see what happens...

You might try wiping down the lugs with a little acetone on a rag. I think maybe there is some oil on the lugs left over from manufacturing.

Yep. Mine are all discolored as well. I also just got 10 PCB pin mount 3pdt's from ppp and they were the exact same way.....kinda discolored...

This has happened in the past and I typically just take an emerey board or some light sandpaper and run it across all the lugs a few times to make them silver again.

Interesting. Think I'll just do them all at once then.

Just had a run-in with this last night. Definitely the lugs need some work before you can solder to them properly.

Had the same problem the other day, also solved it with the brass brush.
