The grounding can be addressed by running extra wires. The only problem you might run into is the lack of any shielding a metal enclosure would provide to the circuitry.

Dood - those are awesome!

Stephen - help me out a little, if one were to run extra wires for grounding, are we talking like one long wire from sleeve to sleeve on the I/O jacks, or what?

Everything would get grounded to the SLEEVE lug of the input jack. Including the output jack's SLEEVE lug. The ground from the adapter jack would be connected to the RING lug of the input jack. And that's only if you want to be able to power the circuit with a battery. Otherwise you could ground the adapter jack to the input jack as well.

Yes. The only grounding a enclosure normally does is the connecting of Input/Output via the Ground part of the jack. It possesses no "magical grounded to core of all electricity" purpose. Your usual ground wiring and the I/O grounds/sleeves connected will keep you "well grounded" with the plastic box. Just like you'd have to do on most plastic enclosed jacks

Now RF? That's a different story that I haven't read. :|

Would be cool if it was a metal screen encased in clear plastic with a grounding tab. Then it would be like a mini faraday cage.

That reminds me of a funny story my dad told me. He used to work for the city repairing and installing radios for the street, police and fire departments. Inside the shop they had a Faraday cage that they needed to use from time to time. While my dad was at work he would have a radio on in the shop to hear all the cop and fire reports going on in the city. One day while in the cage working a cop came into the shop and asked my dad what the cage was for. He told him that it was a Faraday cage and that it was used to block radio frequency reception. So the cop asked him, "Then how are you able to hear the radio?"

You know all that EXTRA NOISE you hear on the breadboard????????

That is what you are subject to with the clear enclosure.

I was actually planning on using one (I got a 125B sized clear enclosure a while ago) to build one of my pedals and take it to the music store to show off the guts of my builds, BUT, if someone wants to play it, and it picks up RF from all the neon crap in the store, I will be screwed.

I thought you were asking how to shield a wooden box.
