Is there a sound clip out there of the envelope filter? The only thing I could find on You-tube was of a 3 knob version. Whats the difference? ( I know 1 knob). Is this still a "DOD440" based?

According to Keith,"The new filter kit is based on the DOD 545/FX-25. The actual envelope trigger portion of the circuit is still identical to the 440, so there are some similarities in performance." and "The FX-25, 440, and 545(with the attack knob full turn CCW) all sound very very similar....almost identical." But I don't have any audio or video clips available...and although I have not done a side by side test between the latest filter kit and the previous one yet, there is not a noticeable difference between the 2 as far as I can tell, though if I have time this weekend, I'll try to do a side by side test of both...

I'll do one this weekend. I have to say, that yes, with attack all the way CCW it does sound similar to the old 440 version. However, this is a very much more versatile pedal than the old one and it gets funkier for sure. The attack pot is pretty cool!

how would you guys say it compares to an EHX Q-tron?

I've got the 3-knob Q-tron version (still in the big box, though), and I like it very much, but I have this crazy goal of having an all-home built pedal board, and that means the EHX has got to go eventually. I've been considering the BYOC version, or the Nurse Quacky... I've got a SWAW board that's waiting on a part, so I haven't had a chance to test that out yet.

The sound I'm looking for is that Jerry Garcia lead thing... I can use a wah for chords. Any suggestions/recommendations/reviews? I guess I could always just trace and clone my Q-tron...

The Nurse is much closer to the Q-Tron. The new filter is kind of close when you turn the attack knob CW a little, but the character isn't quite the same. Picking nits here, maybe, but they are different. When it's working, My Mutron III clone is my favorite, then I like the new BYOC then it's a toss-up between the old BYOC and the Nurse. But they are all keepers! If I had the money, I would buy a Mooger too.

Always wanted to try a mu-tron... what schematic or project did you use to clone it? I found an original schemo online, but it might be a little beyond me to draw up a layout. :)

GGG Neutron Clone: http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/projects/19-filters-envelope/112-geo-neutron-filter...pretty complex build but do-able. Search this forum for Neutron for lots on people doing the build.
