This thread contains all mods that have been verified. If you'd like to submitt a wiring diagram or schematic for a mod, please post it. Once a mod is verified, a forum moderator will mark it was verified. Comments are allowed in this thread, but are discouraged and will be deleted once the comment is no longer pertinent. This is to keep down the clutter. If you have a question about any of the mods in this thread, please start a seperate thread.

This is the langraff mod posted by Kahel. It is a clipping mod. It is shown in context for the tubescreamer kit, but this can be applied to any OD, fuzz, or distortion that uses diode clipping.

I was asked privately if I could make a drawing of how to implement the diode clipping switch from a Landgraff on a BYOC overdrive, and I can, so here it is:

Image

Now, if no diode clipping at all makes no sense to you (the middle mode) and you'd rather want a third mode, you should use a DTDT on-on-on switch instead. These have internal connections between lugs 2-3 and lugs 4-5, effectively making them 1P3T switches with outputs on pole 1, 4 and 6:

Image

Small Bear doesn't carry any of these, but Mouser has a few. Do a search for "DPDT on-on-on".

Of cource, if you want to get real fancy you could get a small piece of veroboard, add socket strips across it, and have three customizable modes you could play around with forever. Like this:

8) K

Here, Here, Huzzah, Huzzah!!!

I too would like to see more diagrams for mods posted here. I'm really interested in the half-speed switch mod for the older Tremolo kit ;) ;) .

Seeing as the stuff is already posted, it'd probably be hard to get everyone to re-post, after all, we are lazy good for nuthin guitarist's, right? Perhaps Matt, in his non-existant spare time, could gather up the mods, from existing threads, and concentrate them into this one? Perhaps, I should mind my own biz?

Perhaps the people who posted them or the people who requested diagrams for particular mods and got them could do it since they probably know where to locate them. Or not. I intend on adding a pretty comprehensive mods section to all of the instructions for each kit, so this thread will eventually be done away with....who knows how long it will take me to get around to that. Probably everytime a PCB layout is updated and I'm forced to update the instructions.

I'm 'bout to build 3 808's like that. Here's the same mod for the chorus.

I'm certain the 45/90 mod dosent work though. But thanks a million for doing that!

I also wanted to say you'd probably want to make a switch to alternate between trimpots because when you do the script/vibe mod you're forced to choose between an awesome script and awesome vibe sound, I don't know how , but a switch to go between two adjusted trimpots would rock!

I don't think he has the stacked opamps working on this but I'm still going to build it just going to use a single RC4558P.

Easy money. Just use a 250k linear pot mounted outside and wired in place of the trim pot and adjust it on the fly when you swicth modes. That's what I did thanks to Keith's suggestion. Works great, although I rarely use the "vibe" mode because I have a Sweet Sounds Mojo-Vibe.

What's the function/purpose of the 2nd 3PDT stomp switch? How's it wired?

it's not showing the other 3PDT switch. If you look at the board, you'll see only controls are used, the rest still has to be wired, as does the on off LED.

Correct, the stacked op-amps remain problematic. I would suggest just a single socket and drop the opamp switches.

Are DpDt necessary for the TS9 mods or the clipping section mods??
I am going to build the double level/drive pedal with some mods.. and I want to make sure I get the right stuff. I am still learning about dpdt switches. I would thing they are all on-on 2 way.. but apparently, there are 3 positions with them too?? would that make them 2d3t switches??

Thanks,
adrian

Nope, not usually! Every DPDT in the clipping section can be a SPDT.

RE the hard/soft and 1/2 speed mods on the trem:

1) What are the 5 yellow circles attached to the 25k pot?
2) What is the value of the cap attached to the 4k7 resistor?
3) What is the 4k7 resistor attached to. Don't recognize the symbol.
4) Are pads S1 and S2 on the board now left empty?
5) Which mods are which?

Thanks,
Red
