So a while back i posted about the tele kit i scored.
well she is all done, (thanks to the mouse man for the switch! )and what a ride. I have found that i LOVE doing this sort of thing! The moment of zen you get from sanding with good tunes playing, a well rolled joint and a beer or two is quite close on par with a good day of fishing. only bad thing (aside from the nut that im not exactly fond of and will be changed out shortly) is now i have that odd project postpartum depression thing going on.. the giant " well what now?"

The Meat and taters of it all:
did a truoil finish on it. the neck is just awesome and i now understand what is ment by " its a fast neck"
the only downfall is its still off gassing its fishey-funk. though it is much less than it was when it first dried fully.
went with a .022 uf ruskie PIO tone cap. and the creamery's baby 71's http://www.at-the-creamery.co.uk/blog/h ... humbucker/

The pickups SING. they are like a single coil all jacked up. Beefy but chimey and clear the neck is HOT and blusey as all hell. Seriously they are the cats ass.

only things i will change up on her will be the nut obviously (ive got that burr string pop when tuning thing going on) im thinking a graphtex to keep it in tune with the trem bar use. and the "my first strat" white pick guard will need to be made a better shape and more pearloid to match the knobs.
anyway here is the obligatory "on a fence" shot. more to come and hopefully some clips.

Also, Pat, i havent forgotten about you, hang tight, something awesome is headed your way soon.

Tell us the truth now: did you or did you not sell your soul for this guitar? :D

Hello and welcome!

That's just amazing. Well done.

My first guitar was a Tele with humbuckers, so it's giving me expensive ideas.

Very sweet. I've been thinking about jumping into the world of Tele with a kit. Can I ask which kit it was?

It's a Reid and Sons kit.
I traced the body out and found a local luthier that will let me use his tools/bench so im hoping to knock off some thin line bodies (or regular if that's your style) for sale if anyone is interested.

i cant stress enough how much fun it is to put one together (slightly less, id imagine than building from scratch, which is the next mission)
just be warned.. that big " well what next" is a powerful one once its done.

Just killer Khek.

Hey, how hard was it to install that Bigsby? Had you installed one before?

I chickened out on my Tele and opted not to do one this go around. I'm such a puss.

this was my first venture into this sort of thing, so no ive never put one in before..
that said it was worth every bit of measrueing thrice.
its action is perfection. the combination of the feedback that comes from the F hole and the bigsby is sonic awesomeness.
I'll try real hard to get some quick cellphine clips (and some video of the color organ ) tonight , but time is short, going to see melvin seals tonight.
love me some fat albert lookin hammond b3 playin gospel chord voicing melvin seals!
