Here is a little project, started as a GFS Xaviere, changed the pups and replaced the neck, pretty happy with it now. I put the GFS Surf 90's in there, WOW its got that jangle, spanky twangy like crazy now. So rockabilly! Scored the neck on Ebay, supposedly a hand built neck, dont know but it feels great!

I put in the GFS 1963 Professional Series Tele pickups ('hotter wound' bridge).
Add to that compensated brass saddles (3-saddle version), some Q-Parts shell knobs and some roller string trees, and that's about all I did to mine..

Do you like those pups?
I have the 50's repro tele's in my better tele and totally love it, the standard neck pup in the neck and its outstanding.

To be honest, this is my first Tele ever, so I don't have anything to compare it to. The stock bridge pickup was pretty shrill and icepick-y.. The new GFS pups fixed that without losing the decent twanginess, and the neck pup is nice and usable. All in all, I'm not disappointed, especially for the price.

Whoa, I just looked up Xavier guitars at GFS. They're really inexpensive! So would you Xavier owners say that they are a good value at the price point? I've been wanting a cheaper guitar to experiment with (pickups, electronics swap, etc.), and these fit the bill based on what I see.

Think the necks suck bad, at least the tele style that came on this one.

Lookin good! Love those Thinlines. How delicate of a process was changing the neck?

It was pretty easy, the new neck was a 16th bigger, but I compensated with the bridge thankfully.
Now I am looking to seal this neck, its pretty bare.

Love the over sized pole pieces. They look so cool.
