Here's my first (but certainly not last!) BYOC pedal. It a modification of the Overdrive kit in a larger enclosure to accomodate the additions. The "Gain/Bass Boost" knob is a 6-way rotary switch that has three normal gain positions and three high gain (through a 1K resistor instead of the stock 4.7K). Each trio of gain settings offers three bass rolloff options--720Hz stock, ~340Hz, and ~160Hz--to give the player some choices with more bottom distortion than the stock TS sound, with its pronounced midrange hump.
The "Mode" toggle above the rotary switch is an on-on-on DPDT that selects between three different clipping diode arrays: asymmetric silicon (one 1N914/two 1N4001's), asymmetric germanium (1-and-2 1N34A's), and symmetric yellow LED's. These are labeled "Normal", "Cool" and "Hot", respectively.
The prepainted enclosure came from Small Bear and its color led me to the choice of names for the pedal. Those of you who remember that bright-yellow, sweetened popcorn snack will understand the play on words. The graphics are waterslide decals, covered with three coats of clear lacquer.
Best of all, it sounds great!!
