got a tele body and now it is time to get parts for it!

i will upload a pic of it soon, i really need ideas for the finish on it! i would love butterscotch blonde, but i dont know if it is going to look right.
the body is alder with a curly maple veneer and a thin paduak stripe down the middle.
very nice looking but i think the paduak would turn a weird orange that might not look too cool!

    any ideas?

You could seal the padouk, before staining the body.

With tung oil or other sealer, depending of what lacquer or clear you'll be using after. :)

spent an hour staring at it and i think i want to do some binding to it.. is it possible at this point? all that is left is to finish sand and grain fill. the edges are already rounded.

What is the radius of your rounded edges? if it's not to tight it could be possible.

Put a piece of felt(is that the good word?), under the router base, and make her bind over!

That black dye will look awesome when you sand it back on that curley maple.

Greenish blueish dye on it, and the first 2 layers of sanding and grain sealer on there too

Yeah, those wood are a bit oily by nature..before you glue them with other wood, you usualy need to rub them with acetone.

Looks like i might be doing an ass ton of sanding.. i put on a medium heavy coat of clear earlier cause i wanted to seal the wood from sanding thru the sealer in a couple spots..well... it has been raining its arse off today and the humidity didnt even register in my head that nitrocellulose lacquer and 100%humidity arent chummy.. it turned all milky on me.

Dude you can get some blush remover and it remelts that nitro and lets the water escape. I have a can but I don't think that will help you  I know reranch sells it but if you could find locally grab it.

I've read on reranch where those cats say bring that sucker inside and let the moisture out. It will come out if the humidity is below say 50% in your house.

You could also post on the ranch and ask them too. Heck I'll post the question for you if you want me too.

Yeah.. i will be goin to get some tomorrow from somewhere. I got all of the dye and paint from reranch and did some reading up on my goof up..
i did bring it in when i noticed that it was milky.. but i dunno if it helped much. Im seriously tempted to try to spray more clear on it tomorrow when the humidity is down.. there is hardly any shine to it.. just chalky mess... lol in my head it seems like i could rewet it with more and it will work.

Well I don't suppose you have much to lose it sounds like. How long have you had it inside?

Do you have a dehumidfier by chance? I sprayed my Tele last month and created a spray booth in half my garage, put this dehumidifier in there and also grabbed my radiant heater too and turned it on to dry out the air. It was raining but I got no blushing. I also had picked up a hygrometer from rat shak which gave me the humidity percentage and temp too, for $20.

Well, I was thinking you need to leave it for 24 hours to see if it is helping. I think I would give that a shot for if it works it will be worth the wait.

I just searched a few blushing threads on reranch. couple of guys sprayed another coat of nitro. Sometimes that works sometimes not. Some others talked about spraying lacquer thinner, very light. Don't know if I would try that without more reading up on it. Of couse many said bring it in but couldn't find any talking about how long to bring it in.
