Nice! I might be the only other bucket fan on the forum
I like some of his rock, but mostly his relaxing/mellow stuff. Electric Tears is probably my favorite BH album 8)

I really wish this guy would give up the bucket and mask schtick. The man has insane playing skills and shouldn't be hiding behind that ridiculous disguise.

I love Buckethead, haven't listened to him in a while though. Me and my friends drove 12 hours to New York to see him after I graduated highschool. We showed up to the show about 4 hours early to be the first in line and to get in the front row. We did and it was awesome. My friend caught a Transformers action figure during his toy hand out.

Anyone ever hear the rumor that Paul Gilbert is Buckethead?

I love Buckethead. I consider him the most talented guitarist I've ever heard of. He can play anything incredibly.

That said, I love the mask. I'm a fan of that kinda thing though.

I recall he did an interview in Guitar Player magazine a long time ago without his mask and bucket...I was surprised years later when i saw he had gone back to the costume.
At that time the joint was lousy with shredders and it was a good move to distinguish himself from the hordes, I guess that still holds true?
Plus, he rarely has to be endure the spittle from some geeked-up fan lathering him up when he leaves the house.

Another fan here. I saw him at Vic in Chicago with his sampler. Cool show but way too short, like an hour

I really dig him doing Machine Gun.

I'm not really familiar with Buckethead. Is there a Buckethead album that is the Buckethead album? Where does one start?

So I've been reading this thread and decided to watch a few Buckethead videos on Youtube. This was one of the recommended videos. I've never heard of Paul Gilbert, but hot damn! This was thoroughly entertaining, all 75 minutes!

At the very least, watch "Scarified" (6:01)

I'd say start with either monsters and robots or giant robot. Enter the Chicken might be the easiest one to get into thou.
This song will give you a good idea of his overall style:

He also has very nice relaxing albums, check out electric tears if you like this:

LOVE Buckethead. And the act that goes with. Separates him from a flock of wankers.

It's hard to have a definitive BH album since the guy puts out like 3 awesome albums a year. Colma's good if you're into the laid back stuff, Pepper's Ghost is another great one.

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but at 34:34, there is the craziest drum solo I've seen in... almost forever.

He taught Buckethead.

If you watch, their hands do most things just alike.

Check out a real diamond in the rough, shadows between the sky, and electric sea. These are his newer albums in the same vein as colma and tears. Electric tears is probably my favorite BH album, love it!

I decided Saturday night I was going to the store for Electrix Sea after work today. I'll look up the other too.

So I listened to Giant Robot and Electric Tears today and I was getting into Buckethead. I'm guessing that is Les Claypool that I hear on Giant Robot. Electric Tears reminded me of some of the solo John Frusciante stuff I've heard. Maybe that's who Buckethead is.

Thanks for the recommendations, guys. Lookin forward to hearing more.

I LOVE Electric Tears....

I have always wondered why I struggle as a solo artist. Now I know why. You need robotic dancing and nun chucks to really make it!! Going to practice my dancing now.
