Does anyone have a layout for an external bias knob on the ESV fuzz similar to analogman's sundial. Sorry if this is posted somewhere else , if so, just respond with the link. Thanks a million.

Heres the one for the esv pcb, you just replace the trimmer with an external pot, Id use 50-100k for the knob.

Just found this thread because I want to put the bias on the outside, too. What would be the benefit of using a 50-100k pot for the bias? The stock trimpot is 25k.

The switchable transistor mod on that list looks good too, but I'm not sure I'm daring enough for that just yet…

For SI the change is not needed, but for the transistors in my germanium esv I needed a 100k trimmer to get the bias down to 4.5v

About that 4.5v technique for biasing:
I know with fixed bias the 4.5v Q2 value is a good starting point. Therefore, with an external control it seems the 4.5 should fall in the mid-range of your sweep. So, with your 100k bias pot, where did you find the 4.5v sweet spot?

Also, exactly what two points on the PCB is the 4.5v measured at?

Thanks much! ...this will be my first pedal build.

AFAIK the bias voltage is measured at the Collector of Q2
