The resistance between pin 8 on the rectifier socket and ground is 1.5 ohms. When I disconnected the yellow wire coming from the PT from pin 8 the resistance went way up. Sounds like a problem with the PT? The resistance between both yellow wires of the PT is 1.5 ohms as well.

If you suspect the PT, start here for troubleshooting: http://www.geofex.com/ampdbug/pwrtrans.htm (there is a similar one for OTs as well: http://www.geofex.com/ampdbug/outtrans.htm)

If you find anything that seems to differ from what's expected, post up the results and we'll try to help you out.

Especially # 3.4. The yellow wires are the 5VAC filament heater wires for the rectifier tube.

Okay here's the ohm report on the PT:
Black to Black - 7.6
Black1 to GRD - >1M
Black2 to GRD - >1M
Red To Red > 314
Yellow To Yellow - 1.7
Yellow To GRD - 1.6 (Seems to be problem)
Green to Green - 4
Green1 To GRD - 1.8 (Another problem?)
Green2 To GRD - 1.8 (Anothor problem?)

Yeah, the yellow-to-ground result is the bad one. Contact sales@buildyourownclone.com and request a new PT, and reference this thread. Mention that one of the forum mods directed you to do so.

Thanks for hanging in there on a long and complicated troubleshooting process! BTW, this is the first bad PT in a Champlifier kit that I've heard of....lucky you! ;)

I contacted sales@buildyourownclone.come and a new PT is on it's way.
I'll let you all know how it works out.

Thanx,

Got the new PT yesterday and it worked! That was the problem. The amp sounds great.
I want to thank everyone for all their help. Here's a picture of the finished product.

Thanks,
Ron
