in the form of a head amp.

I pulled the iron from my Champlifier and bought all new guts for the insides. I've used a more traditional grounding scheme (pre-amp separate from power amp as discussed here previously), added an additional filter stage to the power supply section (talk about a quiet amp) and housed it all in a 10x6x2 Hammond chassis. Other mods include 0.1uf caps for C2&3 and a 1K/2W screen resistor.

Next on the "to do" list... the cabinet.

I see 2 ground lugs (assuming Power side/ Preside) can you give a rundown of which points tie to each ground spot?

The AC jack and two wires from the PT are grounded to one of the screws that hold the AC jack to the enclosure. Lug 1 of the volume pot, the bottom of R4/C1, bottom of C7, bottom of R6 (NOT connected to the bottom of R9/C4) and the input jacks are all grounded to the screw in the front right corner of the first photo. The bottom of the filter caps (C5, C6 and the added 16uf filter cap), bottom of R9/C4, and the output jack are all grounded to the screw in front of the PT. The pre-amp components and power amp components have all their ground connections tied together with two dedicated bus wires beneath the turret board. The wire from the volume pot to the pre-amp tube is shielded with the shield grounded to lug 1 of the volume pot.

I forgot to mention there is a 150R/3W resistor between the first filter cap (C5) and the extra 16uf filter cap that I added.

Just perfect says it all.

Am I blind or where is the fuse? (don't answer that first part  )

Just below where you plug the AC power cord into the jack there is a small drawer that holds the fuse plus a spare.

I believe that is a stove. You can tell from the NOS LED clock. :D

Tidy looking build and nice head cab to boot.

Everyone should get a little head. I know they will enjoy it, and if you can do it yourself you are really special.

Stephen,

Where'd you get that head cab ?

I have the exact same cab that I put my Firefly into.

I've always wondered if there were others floating around - or were you the one building them ?

Dan
