I completed a lazy sprocket today - but its not working

Its my 7th pedal build - 4th byoc. first that has not worked

the LED and bypass work but when its turned on the volume drops massively.

I have played with the trim pot for quite a while without much luck. I have checked all components on the board are in the right place and re-flowed the solder

I did get an intermittent full volume signal occasionally when using the trim-pot - but never more than a second of it. almost like a loose connection moving so i re-did all out board wiring to make absolutely sure i had no loose connections or wire hairs.

no improvement!

guess i need to make a signal probe next

well i got it working.

guess which two resistors i had swapped! - i swear i checked and double checked those last night after reading about similar symptoms on here!

so its working - just want to check a few set-up things.

the attack knob seems most effective in the final 3rd of its travel, the sensitivity is most effective in the first 3rd of its travel - cant really hear the controls doing much outside of these settings, i also get very little volume when the sensitivity is near zero. Is this normal? will playing with the trim pot get me a wider range of use or do i need to consider some of the mods if i want more form the pedal?

I do get the expected SG tones with attack at 9 o'clock and sensitivity at 3 o'clock. :D

decided to swap the attack pot out for a 50k and also increased the tant cap to 1. its definitely more user friendly - easier to dial in

Glad to hear you got it working!

Do you play only one guitar? If so, then I think you'll be happy with your mods if you're happy with it now. If you have another guitar (or two or three :D ) particularly with different kinds of pickups, it might not dial in quite as nicely. YMMV, but my favorite setup is the default tant with 100K pot and the 220K resistor tied across the legs of the pot as described in this post: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=25481.

Anyway, this is one of my favorite pedals. I hope you get a lot of music from it!

Mike

i make guitars - so generally have quite a few around. I set it up to work best with 7-10k pickups rather than anything high output so thats most of my current collection covered ;)
