So I built this pedal a few months ago. It powers on, LED lights up, bypass works but no sound when it's on. If I crank the level knob all the way up I get a faint signal.

It's been on the shelf for a few months but I've just gotten around to opening it up to check for problems. I noticed one of the footswitch leads needed some more solder so reflowed that but the bigger thing I noticed today was that I accidentally soldered the IC socket 180 degrees the wrong way and had the IC inserted as such. I'm assuming this is probably causing the issue.

What I would like the know is can I simply flip the IC without having to desolder then resolder the socket? Obivously I'll have to remember that the socket is flipped if I ever swap out the IC in the future.

Just flip the IC around in the socket, so that the U-shaped indentation points up toward the I/O jacks. The socket itself has no polarity--the notch is just there as a visual cue for inserting the IC correctly.

There's a chance that the IC may have been damaged by inserting it incorrectly, but try it and see....
