Got this from a site called the electronics goldmine. Brands include sprague, mallory, nichicon, Sanyo, and more including some made in usa. Haven't sorted or counted yet, but there are probably 1000+. Most are 16 or 35 volt.

If Scooter doesn't have $6.50, I'll split it with him, LOL!

Yeah, fellas - just showing off. Like I told Scooter - GET YOUR OWN DAMN BOX!

seriously, though... $6.50 for all those caps, even if you can only use 1/4 of them, is cheap as hell.

here's the link:
http://www.goldmine-elec-products.com/p ... ber=G18184

He has other cheap assortment packs and grab bags, too... might be worth the risk, if my score is any indication.

Though I've never bought from them, Electronics Goldmine is mentioned in a bunch of electronics books I have. They're basically a surplus dealer so that's how they keep their prices so low.

C_P, thanks for the offer. I can return the favor if you ever need an obscure value of metal film resistor.

TNB, yep - great deal if you don't mind sorting them yourself... which is fairly easy, considering the values are printed on instead of color coded.

Damn. Well that did it. Ordered one of these, and to help justify the standard $7.20 UPS ground shipping, I added a trimmer assortment ($2.50), a couple brushed aluminum handles, a 100 pack of little ziplock bags with the white space for writing, and some router bits for the hell of it. I don't even know at this point what I'm going to rout, but they were $2 for an assortment... I have a problem. This is one day after a sizable BYOC order.

I stepped up to help our Badgerific friend. And got some for rmyself.

The Electro box probably has 750-1000 peices. OTOH, more than half of that seems to be 300µ - 2000µ.

The mylar bags are much lighter, but looks to be values that we really do use.

So, if you are an amp builder maybe you could use those?

I thought about that. I don't recall what the Voltage ratings should be for an amp build, but I am guessing it is higher than 25V

Got mine Saturday, sorted through it last night. I got a TON for $5. about 1/3 of the caps are either huge voltages or huge uf and so are physically HUGE, I've labeled the box I put them all in 'potential amp caps' The rest is great though, other than the way too many 10V rated 470uf and 220uf caps I got.

I did get an assload of microscopically sized 3.3ufs which is awesome, and some killer metal can looking 330ufs. For the number of each of those I got, and for $5, that alone was worth it. Plus sorting through them was a nice quiet activity while the Sox and Rays were going out to the 16th inning before the Sox won it...

They have mixed packs of a few different things. This one just happened to go on sale from $6.50 down to $5.
