I bought a loop pedal not too long ago and have been finally able to start working its assembly. I have found that the power jack is incorrect. How do get the correct replacement part? Who do I have to contact?

The collar that the nut tightens against is on the end with the wiring connections instead of where the adapter plugs in. If I mount with the correct orientation I would have about 3/8" of threaded plastic hanging outside of the box as well as the nut holding it in place. The molded plastic collar on the jack is on the wrong end in other words. I can get some pics tonight if I have not explained it well enough

No, you've explained it perfectly. That is just a different type of DC adapter jack. BYOC recently switched from the internal nut type to this external nut version. The advantage is that it allows the pedal to be disassembled without the need to unsolder the jack. Since many BYOC customers are novices to pedal building, this can be a real advantage to someone trying to troubleshoot a problem build.

Not everybody likes this style DC jack, though, and you are obviously one of those people. (I am too, BTW.) Suggest that you contact sales@buildyourownclone.com and see if they'd be willing to send you one of the other type. Worst case, you can one from them for $1.25 HERE.

I will gladly contact them. Thanks!!

With regards to the new style, should there be a second nut then to secure it without so much of the assembly hanging out of the box? I didn't find anything else for mounting it.

They only come with a single nut, but a second one would be a welcome inclusion. This suggestion has come up before--I'm going to bring it to Keith's attention for his consideration.

Cool. Yes, I really don't like this style of jack. It really doesn't look good and is very prone to damage.

Both of which can be mitigated with the methods mentioned here - washers or a spacer inside, or a second nut on the inside. I'd challenge the prone to damage part though, it doesn't stick out -that- far...

Pretty sure Smallbear sells the nuts for them.

Yup, look at that: http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=731

The size (2.1mm/2.5mm) should just be the pin, not the external diameter. However I think the internal nut and external nut varieties might be different threads. I wonder why the external ones use the metal nut and the internal ones use the plastic nut... I hate the plastic nuts.

The metal ones are pretty lightweight, but you don't want something too 'substantial' stripping those poor plastic threads on your jack, right? :) The ones I have are polished/shiny at least, which I think looks pretty good.

Ordered my preferred DC jack plus some resistors and caps for a few frankenstein mod projects.

Should be good to go in a few days
